About the practice
Tension Release Yoga is a therapeutic practice rooted in traditional Hatha yoga and inspired by the precision of Iyengar yoga. The work combines prop-supported postures, diaphragmatic breathing and hands-on adjustments to release deep muscular holding and regulate the nervous system.
A central element of the practice is applied pressure and guided adjustment. Through sustained hands-on contact and the intelligent use of gravity, I encourage the body to meet areas where protective patterns have become fixed. Rather than avoiding resistance, the practice invites students to stay present, breathe through the diaphragm and allow the body to gradually surrender its holding. In this way the muscles begin to release their defensive tension and a deeper shift becomes possible.
For many men, particularly those who feel stiff or tightly held in the body, this pragmatic and grounded approach offers a clear path into yoga. It is not about flexibility or performance, but about working directly with tension and learning how to let the body yield to gravity and breath.
For women the practice often unfolds with a more restorative quality, while still working with the same principle of mindful surrender and deep release.
Therapeutic sound and sound baths support the integration of the work. The vibration of sound helps the nervous system settle into deep rest, allowing the body and mind to absorb the release and restore emotional balance.
At its heart, the practice is about reconnecting breath, body and nervous system, allowing long-held tension to unwind and creating space for steadiness, rest and clarity.
