What is your pain trying to tell you & why animals are better in listening than we are?

Let’s talk about something most of us try to avoid: pain.

Not the stub-your-toe kind — I mean the deep, nagging ache in your back. The shoulder that just won’t move right. The foggy mind. The emotional heaviness that shows up in your body.

We’ve been taught to treat pain like a problem — something to silence, numb, or ignore. But what if it’s something else entirely?

what is pain trying to tell you?
what is pain trying to tell you?

Pain Is a Messenger, Not a Punishment

From a biological perspective, pain isn’t your body being “mean.” It’s a wise and intelligent messenger — your nervous system raising a little red flag, saying:

“Hey you! Something’s off. Pay attention here.”

It might be caused by tension, inflammation, nerve compression, or even stored emotional stress. But whatever the root, pain is your body’s language — and ignoring it is like turning off a fire alarm instead of looking for the fire.

Painkillers might silence the sound for a while, but they don’t address the cause. And over time, that disconnect between your body’s signals and your awareness can grow.

🐾 What Do Animals Know That We’ve Forgotten?

Ever noticed how animals seem to know exactly what their bodies need?

cat's oppening their joints and lengthening their spine

  • 🐶 Dogs and 🐱 cats stretch every time they wake up, opening their joints and lengthening their spines.

  • 🦌 Deer balance skillfully to reach leaves, using strength and grace.

  • 🐒 Gorillas gently rock on their backs with their babies — like a natural yoga pose to release tension.

  • 🦫 Meerkats stand tall with relaxed bellies and stacked spines, alert and grounded.

These aren’t just cute movements. They’re instinctual healing responses.

Animals listen to their bodies. They respond with movement, breath, and awareness. They don’t judge or override what they feel — they move with it.

🧘‍♀️ What Happened to Us?

At some point, we stopped listening.

When something hurts, we reach for a quick fix instead of tuning in. We sit more, scroll more, and ignore more.

Our body speaks — but we’ve forgotten how to hear it.

The good news? Your body hasn’t forgotten. It's still trying to talk to you.

  • That twinge in your shoulder? It might be asking for movement, not medication.

  • That sciatica? A call for more space in the pelvis and a long exhale.

  • That tight chest or racing mind? A reminder to breathe — low and slow, like you did when you were a baby.

🌿 Rebuilding Body Awareness — Naturally and Compassionately

This is where practices like yoga and breathwork come in — not as trends, but as time-tested tools for reconnecting with your body’s wisdom.

In my sessions, I guide you to:

✅ Hear the real message behind pain✅ Reawaken your natural instinct to move and heal✅ Stretch, breathe, release, and realign — just like animals do✅ Create space where there’s tightness, stillness where there’s stress✅ Come back to your body with compassion, not judgment

I would strongly recommend Magdalena to anyone looking for authentic Hatha Yoga instruction. She has gained a considerable appreciation of the practices, the teachings and the felt experience. She attunes to her students with insight and is careful to balance encouragement and challenge when sensitively adjusting their postures. Magdalena is clearly an inspired and dedicated follower of the Yoga path.

"I now know how to breathe! Seriously - Magdalena's classes taught me how to slow down, tune in, and feel present in my body. I've always been pretty inflexible, but with her calm, supportive guidance, I started seeing real changes fast. Not only do I feel more relaxed and clear-headed, but the difference on the football pitch was huge! It's more than just yoga - it's a reset for your whole self."

I highly recommend Tension Release Yoga for anyone looking to release stress and reconnect with their body. Magda is a very attentive and gentle instructor who takes the time to clearly explain each posture and movement. Her guidance helps you move mindfully and safely throughout the practice. What truly sets her apart is how she inspires you to connect within through breath, meditation and heightened awareness of the tension held in your body. This mindful approach not only promotes relaxation but also deepens your perception of your own physical and mental state. If you’re seeking a thoughtful and effective yoga experience, Magda’s teachings are an excellent choice.
